We shop around from store to store to find the best tv for the best price.  Shoes, clothes, electronics all become part of a search for the best quality at the lowest price.

So why do we not shop around for our pet care services.  We trust that a person handling our animals is honest and the best, but is that always the case?

In calling several vets within a local area, spay prices on dogs ranged anywhere from $100-$400.  It is the exact same surgery so why such a difference in price?  Does the vet who charges more take better care of the pet, or are his prices simply higher?

We, as pet owners, need to do what is best for our pets.  Sadly enough there are people out there in all professions that will tell you what they can to make you spend more money.  And why not, our vets are supposed to be trustworthy.

You need to consider treatments and costs and there is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion.
