About the Instructor
S.I.T Dog Training was created by Jen Knappenburger inspired by Sampson the Labrador. She grew up in a dog training home. As a child spent many days at training classes and remembers rolling up mats at the end of a obedience classes. As she got a bit older, she took to training and showing horses.
In 2005, Jen adopted Sampson from the pound at 18 months old. She was told he was uncontrollable and obnoxious and was almost not allowed to adopt him. The shelter was concerned about Sampson's size and behavior to enter a home with a small child.
Jen jumped at the opportunity for such a challenge and set her sights on proving just what a rescue dog can do.
Sampson has become her poster child for rescue as he has accomplished is UD in obedience and is just shy of finishing his MACH in agility. She hopes his accomplishments will encourage others to seek out a rescue as their next dog.
And the rest is history...
Weekends are now spent trialing her labs in agility and obedience and she enjoys watching her students running their dogs as well.
Jen competed in top levels of obedience and agility in the midwest. She also took many students from foundation to many ribbons. She has left IL where many of her students continue what they have learned. She is now in Florida helping others grow.
"It is a great feeling to see the connection between dog and handler. Every team is different, every goal is different, every achievement is different, but in the end, it is all about the game played together, dog and handler, as one"
